GBTA Board of Directors Spotlight
Getting the Most from Your Membership
In this feature series, GBTA’s Board of Directors share their views on topics that matter most to members, the industry, and the way forward for business travel. Today’s guest author is GBTA Board member, Kevin Sullivan, Managing Director of Sales (Global, National, Analytics, Customer Success) for Southwest Airlines.
As I complete my first six months on the GBTA Board of Directors, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. Gratitude for the GBTA leadership and staff for their vision and commitment; the global and local chapter volunteers for driving innovation and growth; and my fellow board members for supporting the strategic vision. And now that the pandemic is largely in the rearview mirror, we are focused on the future. I believe GBTA is building an association that is sustainable for generations to come.
Over my two decades as a member, the association has provided me with a platform to expand my professional network, develop my business travel acumen, and champion industry causes that mattered to me. As you establish your professional goals, how are you considering maximizing your membership?

- Our industry is built on relationships, and face-to-face engagement advances relationships, nurtures collaboration, and drives progress. Whether you are new to the industry or a veteran, GBTA provides the platform for developing a network. Now is the time to connect with business travel professionals from around the world, through local chapters, GBTA Events, GBTA Hub, and the Member Directory.
Enhancing Learning
- Our industry is evolving daily. It’s time to own your professional development roadmap. Your membership unlocks access to insightful research, survey responses, webinars, job aids, educational speakers and expert panels. GBTA also offers more formal programs like GTP Certification, Ladders, and a robust suite of online courses to develop proficiencies in your roles.
Driving Advocacy
- A strong and unified voice is required for advancing our industry. I’ve personally seen GBTA’s commitment to raise the many global voices on critical industry topics like sustainability and DEI industry advocacy from the association leadership. Your engagement will only strengthen the cause, whether through local chapters involvement or with regional policymakers.
