Convention Countdown to GBTA Community and Connection

The next best thing to being in-person at the GBTA Convention is anticipating the industry’s largest gathering in the weeks leading up to the event. We know from our thousands of attending buyers, suppliers and partners that many of you feel it too, with Convention just a month away on August 13-15 in Dallas.

Convention is where the true scope and strength of our industry community can be seen. It’s also where our GBTA brand pillars revealed last year – “Community, Learning and Advocacy” – will be ever-present. Make sure you take full advantage of this unmatched opportunity to connect with peers and colleagues from around the world, starting with the official Sunday afternoon main stage kickoff through to Tuesday evening.

Main Stage topics at Convention this year will set the tone for broad attendee impact: Connection and Recognition; the Future of Work and DEI; Business Transformation and Sustainability; and the Future of Travel and Technology. The Main Stage will also be the place for inspirational and actionable takeaways from leading, business-relevant keynote presenters – including the value of human connection; the how (and why) of personally embracing change; lessons in courageous, net positive leadership; and delving into the impact of broad tech trends within and beyond travel.

Another Main Stage highlight will be the Monday unveiling of results from the 2023 annual GBTA Business Travel Index™ Outlook. Our Research Team and partners are conducting the final analysis now. Like you, I am eager to see the rebound status of global business travel in this latest forecast – are we leading, lagging or right on target? – and what the next five years might look like for continued growth.

Another important part of Convention is the Tuesday Main Stage announcement of the newly elected GBTA Board members. Starting next week (July 19 through August 11), all voting GBTA members can cast their votes from the field of candidates vying for five open Board seats. As GBTA continues to look ahead, we are also delighted to welcome our new GBTA APAC Advisory Board. Comprised of 12 experienced, knowledgeable members, this Board will play a vital role in guiding GBTA's efforts in Asia Pacific. Their valuable expertise will inform our strategies and initiatives in the region, including the upcoming GBTA APAC Conference in Singapore on September 19-20.

GBTA Ladders Mentorship Program Drives Industry Transformation

The GBTA Ladders - Season 9 brought together the best industry talent for mentorship, education and connection to inspire and shape next-generation industry leaders. After months of relentless research, collaboration and ideation, the program culminated at the GBTA Ladders Summit in New Orleans, LA, where the four finalist teams presented their vision for business travel. This year, the Ladders program overall had a total of 18 teams comprised of 170 program participants across 16 countries. Ladders participants onsite selected the winning team live at the Summit.
