Check In with Suzanne
A Salute to Singapore and All Eyes on Asia-Pacific
Today’s Check-In finds us LIVE in Singapore for the much-anticipated GBTA APAC Conference 2023! I’m happy to report that we have a sold-out event with more than 400 GBTA delegates. We also have the added bonus of co-locating our event this year with Worldwide ERC – the Workforce Mobility Association – where our aggregate total of 600+ attendees benefit from relevant main stages, education sessions, networking, and conversations with 30 exhibitors through tomorrow. Business travel is now intersecting with workforce mobility like never before in APAC – and we are happy to bring the two disciplines together into a single event and joint expo. And all eyes are back on APAC. During our opening session today, I presented forecasts and trends for APAC taken from our 2023 GBTA Business Travel Index (BTI) Outlook. APAC continues to lead all other regions in market share – ending 2022 at 39% of overall business travel spend. Thus, it’s a critical region for business travel – and one GBTA is proud to be investing in to promote community, learning and advocacy. (Soon we’ll share these APAC-specific takeaways in our regular GBTA news outlets. Hint: Our GBTA research shows a varied pace of return and growth in APAC for business travel based on country-by-country economic factors and circumstances.)
In addition to regional deep-dives, we’re also looking at unique sectors within our industry. We’re gearing up for next month’s second annual GBTA Project, Crew and Team Travel Summit 2023, October 10-11 in New Orleans. The PCTT Summit focuses on non-traditional business travel and its unique challenges and opportunities. The full-day event features successful use cases, solution challenges, a hands-on workshop and a technology expert panel, culminating in attendees creating actionable business approaches. (Find out more and register here.)
There’s also a lot unfolding now within our advocacy spheres, specifically related to EU policy and US government action. If you don’t already get our European Advocacy or US-focused GBTA Politics of Travel newsletter – just click on the links to subscribe.
Safe travels, everyone!
