GBTA Wins Climate Change Award at 2023 A World For Travel Summit
GBTA was named the winner of the Climate Change Award at the 4th edition of the A World For Travel (AWFT) sustainability summit held October 17-19 in Seville, Spain. GBTA was among six organizations recognized for outstanding efforts in the pursuit of more sustainable travel.
The AWFT Climate Change Award recognizes innovative strategies and projects that reduce emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change in the travel industry. GBTA was selected for its extensive sustainability agenda driving awareness and education in major corporations including the GBTA Foundation’s Sustainability Initiative.
The GBTA Foundation Sustainability Initiative aims to facilitate cross-industry collaboration among the users and providers of corporate travel services – including aviation, hospitality, ground transport, travel management and distribution — to support the deployment of solutions that help to manage and reduce carbon emissions from travel.
Key milestones since the initiative’s launch last year include the rollout of a sustainability toolkit to guide travel managers, creation of a new GBTA Academy Sustainable Travel Management course, hosting two global sustainability summits for the industry, publishing two global barometers on the state of sustainability in global business travel, and engaging policymakers in Europe and the U.S. in critical areas such as emissions measurement and reporting and multimodal travel options.
In addition to accepting the award for GBTA at AWFT, Catherine Logan, Regional SVP – EMEA & APAC, also participated in a panel discussion “Is Business Travel Leading Change? Is MICE Recovering?”
