Opening Doors that Matter, Holding Them Open for Others
Whether you consider it recovery, rebound or growth, you’ve told us the business travel industry continues to move forward. That’s according to our latest GBTA Outlook Poll results released yesterday focused on the current state of business travel and the priorities and shifts expected for 2024. (Thank you to the 865 industry professionals from 46 countries who shared their insights for this 32nd poll in our series.)
Of the buyers and suppliers responding, 84% say their company’s business travel in 2023 has mostly recovered compared to 2019 levels – and domestic and international bookings and spending continue to steadily rise. But inflation, travel costs, NDC, sustainability and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence will be top of mind for our industry in 2024. Read the full poll results here to get a collective view on what might be on the horizon.
GBTA continues to open doors for the “many voices” of our industry and help build a greener future for business travel and the planet. Recently, the GBTA Foundation has been granted Observer NGO status by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). That also means, for the first time GBTA – represented by GBTA Foundation head, Delphine Millot – will be attending COP28 (the UN Climate Change Conference) in Dubai from December 1-6. Watch our GBTA channels for insights from this very important, “world stage” event.
GBTA also made a commitment to support the green transition in travel as part of the European Commission’s Transition Pathway initiatives in its latest public and private actions. This is based on our current efforts and will also bring more opportunities for further collaboration with EU officials and stakeholders.
And GBTA’s sustainability efforts have been noticed. Recently at A World For Travel Summit in Spain, GBTA won the Climate Change Award, recognizing our leading, comprehensive approach to bringing awareness and education across the global business travel sector. I’m so proud of our Foundation’s sustainability team as well as the many volunteers and supporters who help make this award-winning work possible!
Last week we also celebrated those who open doors for the stellar women in our industry. Held along with the WINiT Summit, at the GBTA WINiT Gala in Brooklyn, New York, we recognized 12 WINiT Award winners and the WINiT Top 50 recipients. Congratulations and thank you to all for your dedication and efforts to drive progress in the careers and lives of women in travel-related industries.
Taking action and having an impact is what our GBTA volunteers and partners do best. Keep opening those doors – our talent, industry and planet will be better because of you.
