Con fusiones y adquisiciones de algunas de las marcas m\u00e1s conocidas en los sectores de viajes a\u00e9reos, alojamiento y transporte terrestre que contin\u00faan a un ritmo acelerado, la Convenci\u00f3n GBTA 2016 present\u00f3 un <a href=\"http:\/\/convention.gbta.org\/Speakers\/ImpactofConsolidation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mesa redonda de Center Stage sobre el tema de la consolidaci\u00f3n<\/a> con algunos de los expertos m\u00e1s conocidos en el campo.<\/p>\n<p>Moderado por Guy Langford, vicepresidente, l\u00edder estadounidense de Travel, Hospitality &amp; Leisure (&quot;THL&quot;), Deloitte &amp; Touche LLP, el panel estuvo compuesto por Reggie Aggarwal, director ejecutivo y fundador de Cvent; Dara Khosrowshahi Presidente y CEO, Expedia, Inc., y; Kevin Frid, director de operaciones de Accor Hotels. El panel aport\u00f3 perspectivas \u00fanicas a un debate extremadamente oportuno y relevante. Actualmente se est\u00e1 adquiriendo Cvent, Expedia se ha convertido en una de las compa\u00f1\u00edas de viajes m\u00e1s grandes del mundo a trav\u00e9s de adquisiciones y Accor Hotels recientemente complet\u00f3 una adquisici\u00f3n. Dados estos antecedentes en las industrias de viajes, la conversaci\u00f3n brind\u00f3 la claridad y el conocimiento que tanto necesitaban sobre uno de los principales impulsores que dan forma a la industria de viajes actual.<\/p>\n<p>Hubo acuerdo en que contar con una estrategia efectiva debe impulsar el proceso de fusiones o adquisiciones exitosas. Si la consolidaci\u00f3n no es estrat\u00e9gica, puede no tener \u00e9xito. Seg\u00fan Kevin Frid de Accor, \u201cla estrategia, cuando se hace bien, no cambia mucho, pero puede modificarse. Las condiciones econ\u00f3micas siempre est\u00e1n cambiando\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2087\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.gbta.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Merger-Frida-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Merger Frida\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>El presidente y director ejecutivo de Expedia, Dara Khosrowshahi, destac\u00f3 el panorama de endeudamiento \u00fanico que existe actualmente y afirm\u00f3 que, &quot;en este momento, los bancos centrales est\u00e1n reduciendo el costo de endeudamiento hasta tal punto que ahora p\u00e1jaro en mano vale m\u00e1s que p\u00e1jaro volando y la gente est\u00e1 zambullirse en el monte para recoger p\u00e1jaros\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2086\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.gbta.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Merger-Dara-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Merger Dara\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Desde la perspectiva de una empresa que est\u00e1 siendo adquirida, Reggie Aggarwal de Cvent dijo que, &quot;si usted es la empresa adquirente, la estrategia es lo m\u00e1s importante, pero si est\u00e1 siendo adquirida, el factor determinante es el precio&quot;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2088\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.gbta.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Merger-Reggie-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Merger Reggie\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" \/><\/p>\n<p>La conversaci\u00f3n pas\u00f3 a los temas candentes de la escalabilidad, la tecnolog\u00eda y si todav\u00eda es posible &quot;poseer al cliente&quot;. Con respecto a la escalabilidad, Frid de Accor considera que la escalabilidad est\u00e1 intr\u00ednsecamente vinculada a la estrategia. Hablando de la reciente fusi\u00f3n, \u201cquer\u00edamos una huella m\u00e1s grande en el espacio de lujo y en los mercados de EE. UU., pero la realidad es que las marcas no pueden escalar para determinar un precio. Las marcas solo pueden ofrecer una propuesta de valor a sus clientes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Si bien los tres panelistas ten\u00edan perspectivas \u00fanicas del panorama actual de consolidaci\u00f3n, estaban de acuerdo en que ya no es posible &quot;poseer al cliente&quot;, ya que el viajero joven e inteligente de hoy en d\u00eda se resiste a tales nociones. Es posible, seg\u00fan Khosrowshahi y Aggarawl, confiar en la tecnolog\u00eda para interactuar con el cliente y aliviar los puntos d\u00e9biles.<\/p>\n<p>El panel acord\u00f3 que tales usos de la tecnolog\u00eda continuar\u00e1n impulsando fusiones y adquisiciones en la industria de viajes en el futuro previsible.
