And as business travel continues to grow within India, corporate travel management, technology adoption, corporate card programs and payment practices are increasingly important \u2500 and companies must address critical gaps that could impact their cost control and compliance efforts.<br><br>New research \u2500 entitled, <em>2025 India Business Travel and Payments Study<\/em> \u2500 benchmarking India\u2019s business travel and corporate payment landscape was unveiled today by the Global Business Travel Association (<a href=\"https:\/\/gbta.org\/es\/\">GBTA<\/a>), in partnership with Visa, a global leader in digital payments.<br><br>Reflecting the market\u2019s continued expansion, in the study nearly 70% of Indian travel buyers reported an increase in both domestic (69%) and international (68%) business travel within their programmes. However, the study also found that market maturity still has room to grow. Seventy-seven percent of those surveyed rate the maturity of their travel programme a seven out of 10 or higher. Additionally, only 38% rate the maturity a nine or a 10, indicating additional opportunities for programme enhancements.<br><br>&#8220;GBTA is proud to partner with Visa on this first-ever India-exclusive study. GBTA is committed to helping Indian business travel professionals foster this growth through in-person connections, insightful research and ongoing educational opportunities.&#8221;<br><br>Findings from this new study were unveiled today at the inaugural <a href=\"https:\/\/gbta.org\/es\/gbta-india-summit-2025\/\">GBTA India Business Travel Summit<\/a> and presented by <strong>Ravi Sattavan, Visa Commercial Solutions, India<\/strong>. \u00a0<br><br>\u201cVisa is pleased to partner with GBTA on this report, highlighting India\u2019s rapidly evolving business travel sector. As travel grows, strong digital payment solutions are essential for cost control, compliance, and real-time spend visibility. These insights help Indian businesses identify where modernization can deliver the greatest value and keep them competitive,\u201d said Sattavan.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los puntos clave del estudio incluyen:<br><br><strong>Corporate payment adoption remains inconsistent across organizations<\/strong><br><br>The study highlights a notable gap between travel growth and payment processes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>30% of organizations do not use any corporate payment methods for travel within India<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When it comes to specific methods of payment:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>51% use corporate cards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>30% use Central Travel Accounts (CTAs)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>7% use virtual card numbers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>7% use prepaid cards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Indian travel buyers surveyed cite lack of issuance and limited merchant acceptance as the most common reasons for non-compliance with corporate payment policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When selecting payment products or vendors within India, programme management considerations took precedence. Top priorities include merchant acceptance, protection from fraud\/misuse, global spend visibility and the expense reimbursement process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Technology adoption is strong, marking a shift toward digitization<\/strong><br><br>Despite India\u2019s past reliance on offline, assisted booking practices, the study finds robust adoption of core travel technology within the market:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>76% use of a self-service Online Booking Engine (OBE)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>91% use an expense management system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>63% use risk-management or traveler-tracking technology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Travel buyers in India feel they have local autonomy<\/strong><br><br>Among multinational companies headquartered outside India, the report indicates the importance of local expertise in navigating India-specific regulatory and operational considerations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>55% say India-based teams have primary responsibility for managing in-country travel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fewer (41%) feel that staff within India have to share this responsibility with staff outside of the country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indian travel teams often oversee both travel and payment decisions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study highlights the broad responsibilities held by India-based teams:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>72% say the same staff managing travel also manage payment product decisions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>42% say the travel team has primary responsibilityfor payment decisions.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Metodolog\u00eda<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Findings are based on digital survey responses from 157 corporate travel managers in India conducted from 22 September to 17 October 2025.
