SUMMARY:Navigating the World: Street Smart Travel Tips - GTP Credit Approved
DESCRIPTION:GBTA Bay Area\nApril Dinner Program\nThursday\, April 18\n5:30-8:30 PM Pacific \nThe Marker\n501 Geary Street\, San Francisco \nNavigating the World: Street Smart Travel Tips \n \nBack by popular demand\, Detective Kevin Coffey\, aka “The Scholar of Thievery\,” will be sharing his updated “street smart” travel presentation. Whether for business or leisure\, domestic or international\, traveling today has very different challenges that travelers must be prepared for. That’s where Detective Coffey’s travel advice can make a significant difference in the outcome of your next trip.\nKevin’s background is unique to the travel and meeting industry\, as before he became a corporate speaker\, he served as a detective with the Los Angeles Police Department\, where he investigated crimes against travelers at LAX airport\, hotels\, car rental agencies\, taxi cabs\, and tourist destinations. This unique career provided him with a unique perspective that allows him to share travel tips\, tricks\, and personal travel security advice from a place of firsthand experience.\nIn this presentation\, Kevin will share the art of street smart and savvy travel strategies that follow his mantra: “Street smarts are as essential as a passport.” In his interactive presentation\, he will share practical strategies to keep you\, your travelers\, as well as your customers safe\, whether exploring bustling international cities or navigating domestic routes. Some of topics covered in this presentation will include”\n• Pre-departure air/cruise considerations travelers don’t think about\n• Must know travel apps travelers may not know\n• New travel documents and passport tips you need to know\n• Tips to make sure your luggage does not take a trip without you\n• Pickpocket (wallet & purse) prevention strategies for traveling abroad or here at home\n• Defensive strategies for protecting a traveler’s lifeline – their mobile phone\n• Medical emergencies while traveling and what you must do BEFORE they occur \nKevin’s insights extend beyond the sales meetings where he regularly conducts his travel skills presentations to business travelers\, as he’s frequently featured in the media – whether it’s Oprah’s Couch\, CNN\, CBS or FOX News\, Inside Edition\, to the Travel Channel. While his street-smart travel skills and wisdom reach millions on television\, now it’s your turn to benefit by attending this meeting.\nBecause this content is unique and significantly benefits an organization’s travel safety training program\, BABTA’s members are encouraged to bring a guest from your organization to attend with you. Strongly consider inviting someone from your corporate security\, HR\, safety\, EHS\, or even your training department so they can get ideas of the type of content you should be sharing with your travelers.\nWith his street-smart travel advice curated from several decades of investigating crimes for the LAPD\, Detective Coffey will share insider travel tips many travelers wish they knew BEFORE their last trip turned upside down. \n$70 for Members/GBTA All Access\n$100 for Non Members

SUMMARY:Inaugural GBTA Michigan Capital Day - GTP Credit Approved
DESCRIPTION:Michigan Capital Day \n \nIn Collaboration With the Michigan Association of Airport Executives \nJoin us for the inaugural Capital Day\, June 6\, in Lansing. \nThe Global Business Travel Association (www.gbta.org) hosts a legislative summit in Washington\, DC\, yearly\, and in 2023\, one of the appointments Leslee Fritz and Cecile Mutch had was with Congresswoman Hillary Scholten’s office. The congresswoman had just testified on the hill the day before: https://twitter.com/RepScholten/status/1668741446222987270?s=20 \nWhile the congresswoman specifically noted Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR\,) we discovered other Michigan airports also had infrastructure and expansion needs. We further learned how our state government allocates federal/state funding and how it has the power to incentivize private investment. \nThese discoveries catalyzed our desire for GBTA Michigan to host its own legislative summit: to bring to Michigan members the issues that impact business travel and how to collectively raise our voice to influence positive change. \nObjective: for GBTA Michigan’s members to hear directly from our state’s airport executives to learn about the realities of airport operations\, funding for improvements\, and air service development. \nWe will take what we learn from the panel discussion and move to the capital to share our concerns with our elected officials.
