GBTA WINiT

Our Allies. The Men of GBTA WINiT.

Yes, we said men.

GBTA WINiT celebrates the men in our industry who have taken a step forward to support and advocate for women. As GBTA WINiT advocates for gender equity in business travel related industries, it takes women and men to come together to drive meaningful change.

Being a Male Ally entails working towards fostering the culture within an organization, by being a role model and also by creating more role models. It’s about bringing systemic change and working relentlessly towards changing prevailing mindsets and attitudes.

How can you be a better Male Ally? The GBTA WINiT Male Allyship Committee created a list of five simple ways:

  1. By sharing opportunities for women in travel – recognize the opportunity for more women to participate in high-profile speaking opportunities and pass on all-male panels; recommend a female colleague for a big, visible project.
  2. By speaking up on behalf of women in travel – amplify the good works of your female colleagues and highlight their accomplishments.
  3. By supporting the elevation and increasing visibility of women in travel – act as a sponsor, helping with opportunities, connections, and visibility.
  4. By publicly celebrating the accomplishments of women in travel – meet with talented women, congratulate women on key wins, praise women to other colleagues.
  5. By committing to being a part of the solution to stop the underrepresentation of women in travel – join organizations in your company that support women in the workplace and join the WINiT Community to be a part of the global community supporting women in our industry.

Why should men support WINiT? Hear the personal insights of WINiT Male Ally of the Year Award Winner, John Snyder, Chief Executive Officer and President, BCD Travel, and Gary Murakami, Vice President of Sales and Industry Relations, Teneo Hospitality, and WINiT Volunteer of the Year Award winner for the Male Allyship Committee.
