Tourism Levies Must Exclude Business Travel, Say Industry Leaders
SOURCE: THE BUSINESS TRAVEL MAGAZINE, GBTA FEATURED, 2/24

Industry associations are joining forces to urge the UK Government to make business travel exempt from any new tourism levies.

The Business Travel Association (BTA), the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) and the Institute of Travel Management (ITM) have submitted a joint response to the UK Government’s Overnight Visitor Levy consultation to argue that business travellers should not be included because they already make significant contributions to the UK economy through business rates, taxation and transport fares.

February GBTA Volunteer of the Month

Dan Saucier
Director, Sales & Partnerships
drvn

Dan spent his first 10 years of his career in the Sports & Entertainment industry in sales, marketing and sponsorships positions for the Celtics, Dolphins and Marlins. He transitioned to Market Director for South Florida Business & Wealth helping oversee their array of C-Suite events, award shows, content and community engagement.

Dan joined the Business Travel community at the end of 2019 as the Director of Sales for Moveo, LLC - now Moveo Technologies, dba drvn. Over the past 7 years, the company has transformed from a small B2SMB transportation service provider into a recognized leader in the mobility technology and service space. Dan is currently the Director of Enterprise Partnerships, where he develops and manages drvn’s large corporate relationships and strategic partnerships

For the past 2 years Dan has served as the President for the South Florida GBTA Chapter. He is currently in his 2nd term as President and in his 5th year on the Board. Dan feels fortunate to also be able to feed one of his passions, as the Chairman for the Sport Management Advisory Board at Nichols College. Previously Dan served on other boards and committees including; United Way Miami-Dade, BNI and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.

Dan has a BSBA in Sports Management, with a minor in Accounting, from Nichols College, in Dudley, Massachusetts.

Parallel to, and from his professional endeavors, Dan caught the travel bug. ALL free time with his wife is allocated to exploring the cultures, history, food and experiences the planet has to offer. Dan was a college-level tennis player and instructor, along with staying active playing any sport available. He’s been in Miami for 15 years but still holds Boston sports teams near and dear (to the chagrin of a not insignificant number of his Miami colleagues).
