The Many Ways We’re Putting The “G” in GBTA

Greetings from Mexico City where tomorrow business travel professionals from across Latin America and beyond will convene for the GBTA LATAM Conference 2024. When we relaunched this conference two years ago, our focus was on pandemic recovery – but now the view is more interesting and complex. It’s an exciting time to see − and shape − what’s next for business travel in this vast market. Regional and domestic markets like those in LATAM together make up the mosaic that is global business travel – and they are an important part of GBTA and our industry’s professional community at a local level. They’re also an important part of how we put the “G” in GBTA every day. I look forward to connecting, learning, and sharing with our members and fellow professionals here in Mexico City over the next two days.

Last week we also had the opportunity to put more of the “G” in GBTA with a focus on the very important areas of advocacy and partnership.

A select few from the GBTA team and members of our European Advisory Board headed to Brussels for policy-related meetings on the European Union agenda. We shared and further discussed GBTA’s newly released policy prioritization paper, “Shaping the Future of Europe Via Business Travel: Policy Priorities for the EU 2024-2029.” The paper outlines GBTA’s call to action for EU institutions, emphasizing the critical role the business travel sector plays in driving EU economies, societies, and sustainability efforts.

Then it was on to Amsterdam where the GBTA team connected for our annual European Partner Council meeting, with nine national partner associations in attendance along with our own France and Italy leadership. We covered membership, aligned our initiatives and showcased the association’s advocacy work and GBTA Foundation programming that’s available to all partners’ members. Collectively, we also advanced preparations for the GBTA +VDR Conference 2024 in Partnership with the Nordic Business Travel Associations taking place in Copenhagen, November 4-6. (Early bird registration is open!)

Continued collaboration, representing the voices of our industry, and focusing on global and local connection are just a few of the ways that together we’ll make progress in shaping a successful, sustainable future for business travel.
