Sustainable Aviation Fuel Crosses 1% Threshold in US as Airlines Scramble for 2030 Compliance

Roughly 1.1% of all jet fuel burned by US commercial carriers in 2025 came from sustainable aviation fuel sources — a figure that sounds modest until you understand what it took to get there, and what it will take to reach the 10% target the industry has set for 2030. That gap, from one percent to ten, represents one of the most capital-intensive transitions any sector of the American economy has ever attempted.
