Learning Today to Lead Tomorrow

One of the things that continues to inspire me most about our global business travel community is our shared commitment to career-long learning and collaboration in a world that is constantly changing. Professional development and community building are core pillars of our GBTA mission and central to how we support you throughout your career.

That commitment to our core pillars comes to life later this month when we will launch two new platforms to optimize the GBTA member experience: GBTA Community+ and GBTA Learning. These platforms will deliver a modernized approach for what business travel professionals need and want most now. GBTA Community+ will support members in their day-to-day work via both online and mobile access, enabling connection, collaboration and real-time problem solving across regions and roles. (It replaces GBTA’s online member Hub, which will be sunset.) GBTA Learning will next-level your professional development, bringing structured advancement, learning pathways, courses and opportunities to earn credits supporting long-term career growth. Together, these platforms will deliver sustained value and development for members in our always-dynamic industry. Watch for the official GBTA launch on April 21st!

Our third key pillar through which we continue to lead is industry advocacy. Tomorrow in Brussels, GBTA will convene EU policymakers, industry leaders and GBTA members for a European Parliament roundtable examining how business travel advances Europe’s sustainable growth and competitiveness. Hosted by MEP Sérgio Gonçalves, the discussion will spotlight how innovation, engagement, smart policies and efficient, low-carbon travel solutions are key drivers for Europe’s mobility future. Finally, I’d like to highlight two essential opportunities for you to represent the many voices within business travel:

• GBTA Board of Directors elections: Our Board plays a vital role in guiding the association’s direction and ensuring we serve our diverse global membership. Nominations to run can be submitted by members through May 8, with voting taking place June 1-July 7. Use your voice and your vote to help shape GBTA’s future and steward our mission forward.
• GBTA Foundation Impact Awards: Help us recognize the leaders and organizations driving meaningful change across our sector. Nominate them for the GBTA Foundation Impact Awards. Nominations close this Friday, April 10th and will be presented at the GBTA Foundation Gala prior to the GBTA Convention in Chicago.

On 8 April 2026, GBTA will convene EU policymakers and industry leaders at the European Parliament in Brussels. Hosted by MEP Sérgio Gonçalves, this high-level policy discussion will spotlight the sector’s role in driving sustainable innovation, foster stronger engagement between industry and EU decisionmakers, and support progress toward efficient, low carbon travel across Europe. The event will be livestreamed, and we invite the global business travel community to tune in and follow the conversation in real time.

Nominate them for the inaugural GBTA Foundation Impact Awards! 

The Impact Awards feature four categories – each designed to recognize a different kind of leadership. Today, we’re spotlighting the Innovator’s Award: 

• Celebrates breakthrough ideas, solutions, or approaches that rethink how the business travel industry addresses People and Planet challenges 
• Recognizes technology, policy, or process innovators - individuals bringing new models to market 
• Welcomes nominations from across the ecosystem – buyers, suppliers, technology, and service providers 
• Makes it easy to participate: nominate a peer, partner, or mentor – self-nominations are welcome, too 
• No fees. No sponsorship required. Just a fair, impact-based selection process 

These awards recognize impact, not modesty – and consideration starts with a nomination. If they’re not nominated by today, April 10, they can’t be selected.
