Business Travel Picks Up, Bolstering Outlook for US Airlines

U.S. airlines have enjoyed a travel boom for the past three years, but until this past quarter, big-spending corporate travelers had been largely missing.

Those customers are now back in full force, boosting profits for carriers in what is normally a weak quarter for results. The U.S. airlines that have so far released results - including Delta, United and Alaska Air - all reported a sharp rebound in flying for business purposes.

GBTA Takes Part in EU Dialogue on the Meetings Industry in Brussels

GBTA partner agency representative, Charles Feld from Grayling, took part this week in an event organized under the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union where meetings industry representatives and EU policymakers discussed how to deliver a positive impact for society and destinations.

Feld spoke of business travel as a crucial component that fosters social cohesion, attracts talent, and stimulates economic growth. He also highlighted the significant economic value of business travel, and showcased GBTA activities including thought leadership, education and training, community engagement, sustainability, advocacy and industry partnerships. The event also included European Commission overviews of the current state of travel and mobility and strategies to address challenges in decarbonization and sustainability in the transport sector.
