Canada’s Business Travel Market Shows Resilience Despite Ongoing Uncertainty
Canada’s business travel sector continues to demonstrate resilience amid global economic uncertainty, according to new insights shared at the 2026 GBTA Canada Conference, held April 27–29 in Toronto.
The conference welcomed nearly 700 attendees from seven countries, including 195 corporate travel managers, reflecting a broad cross-section of the Canadian and global business travel community.
According to the GBTA Business Travel Index, Canada was the 12th‑largest global business travel market in 2025, and for 2026, spending is projected to reach $40.1 billion CAD. Additionally, new GBTA economic impact analysis based on 2024 data shows business travel generated $4.3 billion USD in local revenue for Toronto, contributed $586 million USD in taxes and supported more than 21,000 jobs.
“Business travel continues to prove its resilience and relevance worldwide, and Canada is no exception,” said Suzanne Neufang, CEO of GBTA. “Our data shows that in‑person meetings remain unmatched in driving business outcomes, making smart investment in travel essential.”
