GBTA U.S. Legislative Summit Brings The "Many Voices" of Business Travel to Capitol Hill
Over 120 participants came together in Washington, DC, this week for GBTA's annual US Legislative Summit, a one-of-a kind event that empowers association members to help shape the future of business travel through their active participation.
The first day of the Summit focused on immersive education and insights related to the current U.S. legislative landscape and the issues GBTA is seeking to advance for the industry. Featured sessions included updates from speakers from the US Department of Commerce and Department of Homeland Security, as well as insights on the state of business travel from GBTA CEO, Suzanne Neufang, and the latest on sustainability in the industry from GBTA Foundation's Delphine Millot.
Additionally, GBTA's partner, Cornerstone Government Affairs, presented expert "insider" outlooks about the 118th U.S. Congress and the prevailing political and legislative environment.
In the afternoon, Summit delegates boarded buses from the hotel to Capitol Hill, where they heard from legislators including Senators and Representatives from North Carolina, Nevada, Illinois and Ohio.
On the second day, it was time for the delegates to take action by "walking the Hill." With a line-up of 150+ scheduled meetings, groups of delegates headed to the offices of their respective state Senators and Representatives to advocate for three issues vital to the business travel industry:
"The Legislative Summit is one of GBTA's most essential advocacy initiatives for our industry. We are grateful for the dedicated participants who committed their time, efforts, and collective voices to help drive a constructive agenda that will support and advance the business travel industry for us all," said Shane Downey, Vice President, Government Relations, GBTA.
