Work, Wellness and Wanderlust – Why Not All Three?

With my ear always to the ground on “all things business travel,” I’ve been hearing from our stakeholders that the amount of their own business travel has been picking up, increasing their ability to make important connections with their clients, partners and teams.

The same holds true for me. Today I am in Paris for the GBTA Masterclass, a flagship event for GBTA France where hundreds of buyers and suppliers representing the travel and MICE value chain come together for a day of education, discussion and connection.

And like many of you, when I travel for work now, it’s with a thoughtful approach to optimize every business trip while also factoring in a desire for exploration and wellness. Last week I spoke to an industry journalist on the always-hot topic of “bleisure” and it reminded me that blended travel is also sustainable travel. Combining business and leisure trips can mean combining transportation options (stretching CO2 emissions across several purposes) while getting more done AND also making time for wellness and personal fulfillment.

With only 26 days until the start of the largest gathering of the global business travel community takes place at the GBTA Convention 2024, we hope you are thinking about how to make the most of your travel to Atlanta. It’s countdown time so plan your agenda, get ready to learn, check out tips and discounts, reduce your environmental impact (there’s also a track for that), see some of what’s new and enhanced this year at Convention, and more.

And join us tomorrow virtually as we reflect and present the culmination of our work in 2023 during our GBTA Annual Business Meeting. Without a doubt, 2023 was a year of sustainable progress for the association and our stakeholders as well as for the industry itself. In our annual meeting, we’ll share our financial results, recognize key achievements and preview what’s ahead for the rest of 2024. You’ll want to tune in as we’ll also announce the results of the voting from the 2024 GBTA Board of Directors elections and bylaw amendment proposal.
