Business Travel Industry Sentiment Continues to Reflect Ongoing Uncertainty and Change Amid U.S. Government Actions
(SOURCE: GBTA RESEARCH)

As U.S. government actions continue to reshape the global landscape, the business travel industry continues to navigate growing uncertainty and shifting strategies for the remainder of 2025. This is according to a new GBTA poll released today tracking the outlook and impact on business travel as a result of these actions and as a follow-up to GBTA’s initial April 2025 poll.

“While overall demand remains resilient, the results underscore how economic uncertainty and U.S. government actions continue to send ripple effects across the global travel landscape,” said Suzanne Neufang, CEO, GBTA.

GBTA’s July global poll surveyed 950 industry professionals and here are some top takeaways reflecting the industry’s current sentiment:

  • 48% of suppliers expect a drop in business travel revenue of 17% on average ─ with lodging suppliers the most concerned with 58% anticipating decreases.
  • 34% of buyers continue to expect a decline in business travel volume in 2025 of 19% on average. International business travel is more likely to be impacted with 49% of respondents expecting declines.
  • Spending outlook stayed relatively consistent compared with three months ago – with 31% of buyers expecting decreases of 17% on average.
  • Optimism for the remainder of 2025 remains muted at 28%, with a notable decline in Asia Pacific (27%, down from 40% in April).
  • 35% of non-U.S. respondents say their organization is already traveling for or plans to travel for business to meet with potential new partners or vendors outside of the U.S.
  • Concerns increased in the areas of safety and duty of care and border detentions, both up 9 points since April, while budget cuts and decreased willingness of non-U.S. employees were both up 4 points over the same period.
