Study Highlights Illegal Ground Transportation Risks Facing Business Travelers and Corporate Travel Managers

Illegal and unlicensed ground transportation operators are creating growing duty-of-care risks for business travelers by using digital platforms to appear as legitimate providers, according to preliminary findings from a national study released Aug. 4 by the National Limousine Association and the University Transportation Research Center at The City College of New York.

The findings were presented during the Global Business Travel Association Convention in Chicago.

Fifteen Markets Drive Most Global Business Travel Spending

The United States and China
account for nearly half of the global total

The world’s top 15 business travel markets are forecast to generate $1.43 trillion in spending in 2026, representing 84% of the global total.

The United States and China remain the two largest markets, together accounting for approximately 48% of worldwide business travel spending.

Among the top 15 markets, Brazil, Australia, South Korea, Türkiye and Japan rank among the fastest growing in 2026.

The findings appear in the just-released 2026 GBTA Business Travel Index, made possible by Visa.
