Booking.com and Hotels Increasingly Go Their Separate Ways

Hotels are reporting a significant recent drop-off in sales from online travel agencies (OTAs), particularly Booking.com, after “leaning” away from them in recent years, alongside other broader industry trends.

The relationship with Booking.com has especially soured in Europe as the embattled OTA faces a lawsuit from 10,000 hotels seeking compensation after its parity clauses were found to have breached EU competition law.

Cari Wurzbacher
Manager - Government & Corporate Accounts
United Airlines

Cari Wurzbacher has been with United Airlines since 2014 and is based in Tampa, Florida. She is currently a Manager on the United for Business Sales team responsible for their government portfolio and a team that covers corporate accounts, in and around the Philadelphia area. She is an active member of her local GBTA Tampa Bay chapter and passionately supports the GBTA Foundation's "People" pillar through her extensive volunteer work. A dedicated four-year participant in GBTA Ladders, she was awarded Mentee of the Year in 2022 and Outstanding Contribution in 2025. She currently serves as Co-Chair for the WINiT Education & Development Committee that successfully launched the WINiT Wisdom series this year. Lastly, her commitment to inclusive travel was instrumental in the development of the Foundation's Accessibility Toolkit which provides valuable resources for making business travel more accessible for all. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business & Enterprise Management from Wake Forest University.
