Engagement Is Our Superpower in Creating What’s Next for Business Travel
As business travel continues to evolve, one thing is clear: engagement across our industry is essential. It’s the driving force behind our resilience and our ability to adapt, innovate, and lead. Industry engagement is our currency for progress.
We celebrated engagement in last week’s unveiling of the 2025 WINiT Top 50. These honorees—from 36 countries and across diverse roles in the travel industry—are driving change, redefining leadership and advancing women in the industry. Congratulations to all!
On October 23rd, we’ll continue the celebration at the GBTA WINiT Gala in New York City, where we’ll present Pinnacle and Leadership Awards. Earlier that day, the WINiT Summit will explore “The Power of Possibility,” bringing together professionals to engage around mentorship, development, and community—key ingredients for breaking barriers and expanding leadership opportunities.
Engagement is also thriving in GBTA Ladders, and the 12th season kicks off later this month. This program exemplifies how mentorship and collaboration fuel fresh ideas and elevate our industry and the professionals in it. Last season’s highlights show the impact—and we’re excited to see what this year brings.
GBTA also actively engages on policy issues that affect our industry. Recently, we urged U.S. lawmakers to resolve the federal budget impasse and end the government shutdown. A prolonged disruption threatens business travel and the broader economy, impacting critical infrastructure and operations. According to GBTA research, U.S. business travel spending is projected to reach $395.4 billion this year. Our latest U.S. Economic Impact Study shows the importance and impact of business travel – it contributes nearly $421 billion in direct spending, supports 6 million jobs, and accounts for nearly 2% of GDP.
And you can engage today by taking our latest GBTA industry poll. (Check your email for the link or connect with research@gbta.org) Your participation is always appreciated – it ensures that we can inform and equip our members and industry with actionable insights.
Whether through professional development, policy advocacy, or peer collaboration, active participation is what empowers us to build a stronger, more inclusive future. When we connect, collaborate, and advocate together, we unlock the full potential of business travel.
