GBTA Foundation Earns 2025 SPLC Leadership Award for Advancing Global Sustainable Travel Procurement Standards

The GBTA Foundation, the cause-related arm of GBTA, received the 2025 Leadership Award in the Public Interest Advocate category from the Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council (SPLC) for its work in advancing sustainable procurement standards in the global travel industry.

In 2024, the Foundation released the GBTA Sustainable Procurement Standards, developed with industry partners and vetted by over 50 organizations to help corporate travel buyers assess supplier sustainability efforts, as well as the first-ever Sustainability Acceleration Challenge, designed to evaluate the current state of business travel programs and the actions organizations are taking to decarbonize them. The latest benchmark, released on November 10, indicated that 38% of companies consider climate criteria in supplier selection, and the Foundation plans to release additional tools in 2026 to support sustainable procurement decisions.

The SPLC Leadership Awards ceremony is scheduled virtually for December 3.
