What is the GBTA BTITM?

The GBTA Global Research’s Business Travel Index Outlook – Annual Global Report & Forecast 2024 (BTI™) is five-year, forward-looking forecast of global business travel spend created by GBTA. The forecast allows one to understand both recent market performance and the outlook for business travel into a single metric that can be tracked over time. Now in its 16th year of publication, the BTITM has been a signature GBTA research study and is a critical industry planning tool that monitors business travel spending and growth covering 72 countries across 44 industries. It includes demand-side measurements of business travel—all types of business trips and all spending while on a trip.

What is the BTI Data Cube?

The BTI Data Cube contains the data points that feed the report and allows one to customize the data series for specific analyses. At a high level, the BTI Data Cube contains the following raw data: 

  • Final Full Dataset covering Output and Business Travel Spending (BTS) from 2000-2023 and a forecast through 2028.
  • Pivot table and chart summing BTS by world region
  • BTS from 2000-2028 with toggle for region or country
  • Multiple charts showing world and top countries BTS level, growth, and market share
  • Data by aggregate sector and individual sectors: output, BTS, and output/BTS, 44-sector table
  • Values and chart breaking down top countries in each region
  • Pivot for quick growth rate lookup references, BTS Growth Charts
  • Trend in GBTA BTI values for the top 15 business travel markets + world
  • Summary of how the forecast from last year compared to actual performance
  • Chart showing the top 20 industries by size and growth potential
