Check-In with Suzanne

My business travels for GBTA finds me back in Europe this week for very important and ongoing efforts on behalf of our members to focus on industry advocacy.

In Brussels, we are meeting with various EU legislative leaders on sustainability, especially around the opportunities and challenges for aviation, car services, and business travel across a wide range of relevant EU legislation.

Aligning with other stakeholders like Airlines for Europe (A4E) and the European Association for Electromobility (AVERE) on GBTA’s objectives and our industry overall, our discussions will focus on how we collectively find the right balance in promoting sustainability while supporting the competitiveness and relevancy of the industry for the benefit of travelers and businesses across Europe.

I’ll also engage with the EU Cabinet of Transport Commissioner responsible for the direction of the EU’s transport legislation and mobility strategies. Because the European Commission relies heavily on expert advice when drafting legislation, GBTA’s input is critical to ensure that any European travel regulations also support the business travel industry. We will be sharing GBTA’s member-driven positions on sustainable travel and the measures taken to shape the industry to raise awareness and decision-making at the European level.

And advocacy continues on the US stage with the upcoming GBTA US Legislative Summit, June 6-8, in Washington D.C. The summit agenda includes the GBTA sustainability journey, appeals to eliminate testing requirements for in-bound U.S. travel, keeping the 9/11 security fee to ensure safety, and how to use social media to advocate. We have attendees representing nearly half of the US states – and we’d like to have more. So please join us to add your voice in the US capital.

Also, remember nominations are now being accepted through June 2 for the GBTA Board of Directors Election. If you are an active GBTA member you should use the personalized link from “GBTA Elections” in your email to nominate someone or yourself to run for one of three open seats. As a member-driven community, we are grateful for and inspired by all who volunteer their time and talents to ensure we continue moving GBTA and our industry forward. If you’re not currently an active member – join now so you too can participate in this election cycle.
